… okay, so maybe a million is an exaggeration, but there is a ton going on around here.
- 2007 South Carolina Festival of Flowers · The exhibition is officially over. I picked up the prints I entered mid last week. Sadly, I did not win in the Digital Photography category, but was delighted to see that people enjoyed the photos immensely as they meandered through the displays. (photos on the way) I have a lot more to say about the exhibition itself, but that is a completely different blog post in itself, which I will definitely post as soon as I have the time. I was happy to see that the exhibition was larger this year than in previous years and continues to grow. The art community in South Carolina is budding in all different directions.
- My Birthday! · I’m getting older (I know, big surprise there!). I recently had a birthday, bring me up the ripe young age of 24! This year’s birthday was special to me being that the date was 7-7-7. I’d waited on it for 24 years, and it certainly did not disappoint! A big thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes received!
- Major Blog Updates · I’m sure if you’ve visited recently, you’ve seen the changes happen, but here’s a quick run-down of the changes:
- NEW RSS Feed by Feedburner – Easily subscribe to the Studio|chris Blog and get up to the minute updates of new content in your favorite RSS reader. The Feedburner feed can also be added to many “my” portal sites such as myYahoo!, Google Reader, Outlook 2007, Internet Explorer 7 Feed Reader, or any number of other RSS capable programs and sites. Just click the “chicklet” (the orange thing in the right column) and you’ll be taken directly to the feed address.
- NEW “Share This…” for Social Bookmarking · Click the “Share This…” link at the end of any post to add to your favorite social bookmarking site or use the email tab to send it to a friend!
- NEW Header Banner Image- This is Studio|chris after all, the painted color bar has to be somewhere!
- NEW Font Scheme – Those of you browsing with [Windows Vista] or [XP with Office 2007] installed, you’ll see the font for the blog has been changed to Microsoft’s new “default” font — Calibri. This font has a simple elegance that I love! Those of you who aren’t able to experience the new font still have a new font to see for the blog, Arial or Helvetica, the classic sans-serifs. I also changed all the links to the classic Studio|chris Orange.
- Required registration for commenting has been removed! Instead, you have to pull out your thinking caps or your calculator and answer a first grade math problem (and users already registered don’t even have to do that!). Let the comments roll in; I’m excited to see what you all have to say!
- Integration with the Studio|chris Digital Ink Newsletter – I’f you’re not already subscribed, click the Newsletter Subscribe link to the right and sign up! Newsletters go out once or twice a month and contain specials for the shop not included anywhere else!
- I’ll be working on some more improvements and updates over the course of the next week or so. I want this blog to be a great experience for all that visit. For that reason, I’ve added a Suggestion Box in the links to the right. Add a comment on what you want to see in that page. Help me make this blog everything you want to see.
- SCPortraits.com · That’s right – a new domain name for Studio|chris’ portraits. I’ll continue to house them in the main shop as well, but portrait art is so complex that I thought it would be good for portraits to have a home of their own. The other site is under construction and will be up, hopefully, by the end of September for the holidays, if not earlier.
- Digital Ink Newsletter · July just did not cooperate with me to compile a proper newsletter. Instead of sending out a lower quality newsletter, I’ve decided to hold off until the regular installment in August and send out a proper one. With the August newsletter, you’ll be introduced to a brand new format with great content and easy subscribe/unsubscribe options.
